The School of Modern Languages, in collaboration with The Byre Theatre, offers an exciting programme of events related to the literature, film and cultures of the world. Our Byre World programme showcases some of the research being carried out by the School of Modern Languages and brings together artists, filmmakers, writers and academics. All events are open to university staff and students and the general public.


Join us for an evening with the acclaimed Russian journalist Leonid Parfenov and a screening of his latest documentary Russian Jews. Leonid presents the film and there is a Q and A session after the screening. Russian Jews is a documentary trilogy created and narrated by Leonid Parfenov that studies perceptions of Jews in Russia throughout the ever-changing history of the twentieth century and their role in the history of the country and the world. Presented by CRSCEES and Genesis Philanthropy Group.


Please note, Byre World is also screening Parts 2 and 3 of the Russian Jews documentary at the following dates and locations:
