Discover more about the people of the University of St Andrews. In conversation with the Chaplain, Donald MacEwan, these key figures will explore their path to the university, what inspires them in their research and their thoughts about the future of education.

As Vice-Principal (Research) Derek assumes responsibility for all research activities within the university.  An inorganic chemist, he studies the synthesis of selenium and tellurium rich molecules for applications as diverse as health and electronics. Woollins’ Reagent, which is used to incorporate selenium into organic molecules is named after him.
