In this zany and surreal film, a battle of ice cream cones takes centre stage against the backdrop of 1980s Glasgow. Bill Patterson stars as Allan ‘Dicky’ Bird, a popular Glaswegian disc jockey who finds himself becoming a negotiator in an extreme turf war between rival ice cream vendors. As the conflict rages on, Bird resorts to using his early morning radio show to broadcast messages for peace to end the war on wafers, causing the producer to question his sanity. Award winning director Bill Forsyth is notable for his humorous observations and witty spins on daily urban life, and this film is no different. Featuring a soundtrack of well-loved Christmas carols, this BAFTA nominated comedy is precisely what you need to ease you slowly into the Christmas spirit.
