Baudelaire at the Byre: The Flowerings of Evil (Exhibition)

Beauty, art, and scandal collide in Charles Baudelaire’s 1857 poetry collection Les Fleurs du mal: The Flowers of Evil. Since then, hundreds of artists have been inspired by his work – such as Matisse, Rodin, Debussy, and manga artist Shuzo Oshimi – to create a variety of visual, musical, even perfumed adaptations. This exhibition presents a selection of the best adaptations, illustrations and translations of The Flowers of Evil, including an anime screening and a live musical performance, all alongside the text of the original poetry in both French and English.
