Containing some of Sullivan’s catchiest melodies, this sunny, funny musical comedy concerns the marriage of two royal babies. Move forward twenty years and Prince Hilarion is keen to be reunited with his now adult wife, the Princess Ida. Unfortunately her quarrelsome father has hidden her away
in a women’s only university where even the morning cock crow is managed by a talented hen. So Hilarion is forced to don a dress and even wield a sword to win his wife. Gilbert and Sullivan’s much loved satire of the founding of women’s colleges and Darwinian Theory remains as biting as ever, and will delight both avid fans of G&S and newcomers alike.

The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of the University of St Andrews has been performing in St Andrews for over forty years. Known for sell out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, ‘Come-and-Sing Days’, adaptions of rarely performed work and five star productions, the society remains one of the leading university G&S societies in the UK and a favourite amongst Fife audiences.
