Allan Ramsay – wigmaker, poet, playwright, publisher – dominated Edinburgh cultural life in the first half of the 18th century. Come and encounter Allan Ramsay: Auld Reikie’s Sangster, the man who predated Oswalrd and Burns as a promoter of the Scots lyric, in a concert combining songs and story.

Performers Fred Freeman and John Morran are known for their Scottish traditional music projects; John is lead singer and guitarist with well-known Scottish traditional band Deaf Shepherd and Fred is a Visiting Professor of Scottish Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a leading expert on Scots language lyrics. Their collaborations stretch back over many years and include the multi-volume Complete Songs of Robert Burns, and Complete Songs of Robert Tannahill, with Linn Records.
