Music of the Night

Winner of several Gramophone Awards, an RPO award with the Florestan Trio, and author of eight acclaimed books, Susan Tomes returns to St Andrews with a programme celebrating the Nocturne. A colourful array of nocturnal music by composers including John Field, Clara Schumann, Poulenc, Janáček and Grieg prefaces a complete performance of Robert Schumann’s turbulent tribute to the writing of E.T.A. Hoffmann, Kreisleriana.

Pre-concert talk: Susan Tomes discusses her new book Nocturnes and the Fascination of Night Music with Robert Philip at 6:45pm. Free to concert ticket holders.

Box Office is open 10.00am-4.30pm Monday to Saturday, except when there is an evening event, when it remains open until after the performance starts. It is closed on Sundays, unless there is a performance, when box office opens two hours before the start time.

Refreshments at the Byre
