Professional Touring
The Byre’s artistic programme aims to be diverse, inclusive and of excellent calibre, responding to our understanding of our various audiences while we inspire them by brokering connections with new ideas and worlds.
We programme touring artists and companies of different scales into the Alexander B Paterson Auditorium (216 seats), Lawrence Levy Studio (up to 80 seats) as well as alternative spaces such as the Conference Room and foyers. In some cases, it might be possible to arrange outdoor or site-specific performances.
We programme a diversity of work and are committed to promotion of the best of Scottish theatre, dance, comedy, circus, and music in all its forms. We want to engage with artists and companies to understand your work and are regulars at Federation of Scottish Theatre events as well as seeing as much work as possible across a broad spectrum of the arts.
How we programme
Audiences are at the heart of everything we do, so proposals involving additional engagement, or participatory opportunities are very welcome.
We programme 6 – 18 months ahead so please make contact early, sending us information which includes:
- a summary about the artist or company
- key details about your show
- current funding status and proposed financial deal
- time frame of availability
Our regular programming meetings, and the decision-making process includes considerations about:
- the balance of art forms
- availability of space and staff
- potential audiences
- financial viability
We work as a team to make informed choices which balance the many demands on this busy venue.
Our Technical Specifications including the ABP Auditorium Groundplan can be found can be found here
