Festival of Languages: When Language Fades

Wednesday 30 September 2026

1.00pm – Pay What You Can £6.00 / £4.00

Around 1 in 11 people over 65 live with dementia, and many of us know how hard communication can become, especially in the later stages. In Dr Maggie Ellis's talk, you'll hear how language doesn't disappear – rather, it changes. Through real-life examples, Maggie explores how tone, gesture, rhythm, and even silence can carry meaning.  She will look at how we can still connect, understand, and be understood, reminding us that communication is so much more than words.
