FAQs
These are the answers to our most frequently asked questions.
How do I get tickets?
- If possible, please book in advance online or by phone, and use contactless card payment if you book in person. You can book for Byre performances, screenings and events anytime at byretheatre.com, by phone on 01334 475 000, or in person at the box office.
- You need to provide up to date contact details when you book so that we can contact you in the case of a cancellation or postponement.
I’ve lost my email or paper tickets. What can I do?
- Don’t worry, we will have a record of your booking. Just give us a call on 01334 475000 to let us know in case someone else has picked them up and we’ll make sure that you don’t miss the show.
- If you can’t find your booking confirmation, please check junk or spam. If it isn’t there, please contact box office.
I can’t print my print at home ticket. What can I do?
- Don’t worry. We have a record of your booking. Either bring along the electronic version on your phone or tablet or tell the box office staff when you arrive and we will sort things out for you. If possible, please bring proof of your identity.
What payment methods do you accept?

- Sorry, not at this time.
Can someone pick up tickets for me?
- Please let box office know about the change and the name of the person who will be collecting.
What happens if I can’t come to the event?
- Tickets, including postage and donations, are non-refundable and non-returnable except upon cancellation of the event. However, if you can attend another performance of the same show, we will try to change your seats, if it isn’t sold out. This may incur a small fee for some shows, but at least you won’t miss it.
- If your event is sold out, the Byre may be able to resell your ticket(s) to another customer and offer you a full refund.
- For free events, please return your ticket if you can’t attend. If the event is sold out – we can pass your space on to someone else.
What if the event is cancelled or postponed after I buy my ticket?
- We will offer you a refund as soon as we can. If an event is rescheduled, you will be offered a place for the new date or a refund – whatever suits you best.

- You should not consume your own alcohol on the premises.
- You are welcome to bring water and things like sweets into the performance. However, you should be respectful of the people around you by making as little noise as possible and taking all your litter away with you. Janetta’s ice creams are on sale for many performances.

Can I bring my mobile phone into events?
- Yes, but you are expected to switch off all alarms and alerts on mobile and personal devices to avoid disrupting the performance or screening.

Animals other than trained assistance dogs are not allowed in the performance spaces, or backstage.
To ensure a safe space for all our visitors we will ask you to keep all dogs or other animals either in a travel basket or similar, or on a lead and you will be responsible for ensuring the animal is kept under control and that other people are safe at all times.
Before bringing an animal to visit us, please consider the impact on other people using the space, remembering that some people have allergies or other medical conditions that can be exacerbated by contact with animals or may have a fear response arising from past experiences with animals.
Please also bear in mind the past history of your animal, in particular any past trauma that may affect its reactions to people and its familiarity with close contact with people in a new environment that is often busy and where space can be limited.
If staff decide that your animal may be a risk to other visitors or that the animal may cause others to feel uncomfortable the team may ask you not to remove the animal.
