StAnza 26: Bards & Blether: Anthony Joseph & Nick Makoha

Saturday 14 March 2026

14:30 – 15:30 | Byre: Auditorium | £20/£15/£10/£5

Hear two award-winning poets in relaxed conversation. Anthony Joseph and Nick Makoha share readings from recent work alongside reflections on craft, influence, and their multifaceted artistic lives.

Joseph, winner of the T. S. Eliot Prize, reads from Haunting the Black Air, a dextrous new collection that moves between unabashed joy and crippling grief. Written with musicality and heart, the poems expertly excavate the complex nature of feeling.

Makoha’s The New Carthaginians is a work of striking originality. Winner of the Ivan Juritz Prize and the Poetry London Prize, Makoha offers a mythic and urgent meditation on exile, movement, and fractured belonging.
